The Miami Heat keep their signing streak going as they bring in Mike Miller, Ilgauskas and keep Udonis Haslem.
Haslem will be accepting less money to stay with the Heat (who wouldn’t) and turned down offers from a couple other teams with better deals. Haslem is Miami born-and-raised, but let’s be real, the Heat are now in contention for a title, and joining Bosh, Wade, and James is probably the main reason he stayed. If they keep making deals like this, expect more reactions from Kobe like in the pic above…
[UPDATE] Heat have also acquired former Cavalier Zydrunas Ilgauskas. Cleveland fans probably won’t be burning his jerseys but wow Miami Heat are going ALL-OUT. Watch out NBA, the Heat mean business.
At first I didn’t think the Heat would win the title right away, but they are getting some quality acquisitions and if this continues I may have to change my 2010-2011 Champion predictions from Lakers to Heat….
Derek Fisher was in talks with the Miami Heat, but he ultimately decided to sign with the Los Angeles Lakers. The Lakers main worries are at PG and the overall bench. They upgraded their PG positions with signing Steve Blake and Derek Fisher. Not too many drastic changes with the back-to-back champs other than these two signings and possibly losing Adam Morrison (OH NO!). The Heat have made a ton of noise recently with their signings and the reason the Lakers are usually brought up in my Heat posts, is because they are doing it to compete with them. The Lakers are the clear front-runners for the West, and the Heat know if they want to win a title they have to beat the Lakers. They are that good. The Lakers have the TOP scorer and most killer-instinct in Kobe Bryant, one of the top defenders in Ron Artest, one of the top PF-C tandems with 7-footers Pau Gasol and Andrew Bynum, and solid PG’s in Derek Fisher and Steve Blake.
Barring major injuries it seems like it will be a Heat-Laker Finals. And if it does happen, it will be one of the most exciting Series in Sports PERIOD.
