VisionCare Ophthalmic Technologies’, recently received approval by the FDA, is making an implantable miniature telescope eye for the elderly over 75 years of age who are suffering from end-stage macular degeneration. According to CBC News, 75% of over 200 patients “had their vision improve from severe or profound impairment to moderate impairment.” This sounds great for the elderly who do not want to lose their vision, but it does come with a high cost of $15,000.
