Jamarcus Russell Arrested on Drug Charge

One of the biggest busts in NFL history finds himself in some trouble for sippin on some sizzurp….

Ex-Raider QB Jamarcus Russell was arrested on drug charges yesterday for possession of codeine syrup. Although that doesn’t sound too bad, he doesn’t need this happening to him at this point in his career. He was picked first overall back in 2007 by the Raiders and has not lived up to expectations. He’s had more INT’s than TD’s, and a passer rating of 65.2. More importantly, he’s only won 7 of his 25 starts. It’s definitely why the Raiders let him go so quickly, and decided to sign ex-Redskins QB Jason Campbell.

So now the question is, will Jamarcus ever find another job in the NFL? Probably not. From what we’ve seen of him, he has no potential, and he has no accuracy at all. The only thing he has going for him is a strong arm, but that’s not going to get him anywhere. He also didn’t seem to have any work ethic. All this and he made $36 million through the 2009 season. I don’t think any team in the NFL would want a guy like this. Maybe he can join the AFL cuz I don’t think even the Cowboys or Bengals would sign him. And that’s pretty sad….

  1. He was set up for failure once the Raiders signed him. I truly believe that if he was drafter by a team with morals and true dedication to excellence, he would have had better focus and better work ethics.
Does anyone move on to have a successful career after leaving the Raiders?

  2. It is a shame that young athletes who are able to gain such opportunities as joining the NFL waste them like this…

  3. Yes yes, sad very Sad indeed, I cant even call him a waste of talent because we never got to see anything at the professional level. The only way I can see him coming back is if he gets so pissed from all the Criticism hires a kick-ass trainer gets back in shape(physical and football) and joins the UFL or AFL and shows his ass off. Then maybe someone might be desperate enough to bring him back into the league.
