Now the 2010 Smart Phone Wars have begun. With HTC launching their highly anticipated EVO 4G on Sprint last week, Apple has now officially announced the next iPhone.
The iPhone 4 looks very similar to the one that had been “lost” back in April. It sports a brand new design and also features two different colorways, a black version and a white version. Also in comparison to the iPhone 3GS it is a lot thinner. Prior to the official announcement many had speculated that it would be dubbed the iPhone HD because of it’s 960 x 640 high res screen.
Much like HTC’s EVO 4G the new iPhone has two cameras, a rear camera and a front facing camera for video chatting. The rear camera is 5 mega pixels with LED flash, 5x digital zoom and does 720p video recording at 30 fps. A new iMovie app will also be released and cost $4.99. The front facing camera uses a new feature called “Face Time” which allows you to video chat from iPhone 4 to iPhone 4 through WiFi only.
The iPhone 4 will be released on June 24th (same day as the NBA Draft) on AT&T. The 16GB version will cost $199 and the 32GB version will be $299. AT&T will be allowing their customers to upgrade to the new iPhone up to 6 months early. If you are not that into the new iPhone the 8GB 3GS has been dropped to $99. Apple also announced that it will be selling a First Party Case and iPhone Dock each for $29.
To some up all this, although the EVO 4G by HTC has better specs and is on a cheaper (price wise) network there is not doubt in my mind that the iPhone 4G will mos def out sell it. Not that it should come as a surprise, but the amount of hype around Apple’s products can at times be pretty crazy. People should really look into a product before buying it and not just get it cause that’s what “everyone” else has. Just my 2 cents.
